The Grange Choral Society perform Bach's masterpiece, accompanied by Ensemble Orquesta and directed by Marcio da Silva.

Christmas is not over until you have heard this festive masterpiece,

re-telling the Christmas story in English, with sumptuous baroque choral music.

Soloists:

Tenor - Kieran White.

We are delighted to welcome back Kieran, who gave an outstanding performance as the Evangelist in the Grange Choral Society’s performance of Bach St. John Passion. He won high praise from audience and critics alike for his captivating singing. He has obtained his Masters at the Royal Academy with Distinction and is a Kohn Foundation Bach Cantata Soloist. He is passionate about baroque music and we will be in for a memorable evening.


Soprano - Emily Armour

A post graduate scholar of the Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Emily has enjoyed success as a soloist at St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, and toured with the Monteverdi Choir. Her forays into Opera include La Calisto with the Hampstead Garden Opera and in chorus at both the Royal Opera House and La Scala.


Mezzo Soprano – Maya Wheeler-Colwell

Maya has ben praised in”Opera” for performances that “delight with her vivacity”. She has a First Class BA in music from the University of Bristol and currently studies at the Royal Academy of Music. Having experience of many operatic roles, Maya recently made her debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, singing the alto solo in Mozart's Regina Coeli with the City of London Choir. Maya recently premiered the title role in Oliver Bowes’ The Picture of Dorian Gray in London, to great acclaim.


Bass-John Holland Avery

A BA (Hons) in Music from York University. A former Lay Clerk at St John’s College Cambridge. John completed an MMus in Vocal Performance at Royal Northern College of Music, during which time he won the Frederic Cox Song Prize. Embarking on his professional operatic career, John sang amongst others, the title role of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte (Ensemble Orquesta) and Don Alfonso from the same opera (Devon Opera). Recent concert solo performances Handel’s Messiah in Cambridge, Guildford, and Stamford. Baritone soloist in Vaughan Williams’ Dona nobis pacem in Munster, Germany.
